Xiaomi Launches Mi MIX 2 Philippe Starck Edition with 8GB RAM

Back in September, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi MIX 2 with the new 18:9 bezel-less display in China. A month after the China launch, the company also introduced it in the Indian market. Unlike in China, Xiaomi hasn’t launched the 8GB RAM variant with the cermaic unibody design. Instead, the company came with 6GB RAM variant with the metal frame and ceramic back body. It is priced at Rs. 35,999 and comes in Black color. Today, the company unveiled a new variant of the Mi MIX 2 called Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Philippe Starck Edition. It is a limited edition device and is only available in 3000 units. It is the same all ceramic variant of the Mi MIX 2, but comes with Starck’s signature on the bottom rear. As seen on the standard variant, there is also an 18k gold plated ring around the rear camera module of the Starck Edition of the Mi MIX 2.

The package also includes limited edition case for the device along with a signed certificate of collection. It will go on sale starting November 28th exclusively in China. While the standard 8GB RAM variant with ceramic unibody costs 4699 Yuan (approx $710 / Rs. 46,000), the Starck Edition with the same specifications is priced at 4999 Yuan (approx $760 / Rs. 49,000). It sports a 5.99-inch display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes powered 2.45GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The device packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

There is no MicroSD card for storage expansion or the 3.5mm headphone jack for using standard headsets. It runs on Android 7.9 Nougat out fo the box with MIUI skin on top. The Mi MIX 2 comes with dual SIM support and offers basic connectivity options. In terms of optics, there is a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and 4-axis OIS. For selfies, there is a 5MP front-facing camera with the facial recognition support. It is backed by a 3,400mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology using the 9V/2A (18W) power adapter. We don’t think the company will launch the Mi MIX 2 Philippe Starck Edition outside of China.
